Noni Bobbles OR Star Trek Tribbles

Ok, I already boasted weeks back about how productive a knitting vacation I had...blah blah blah...

Ok, well here are the pictures (before they have been finished) to prove it! I feel like my living room has been taken over by those little TRIBBLES from Star Trek.....The NONI bobbles, vine, vine leaves and spider chrysanthemum pieces seem to multiply...If I don't post anything for awhile, you know what happened!

HERE ARE THE FAMOUS NONI BOBBLES IN ASSORTED COLORS BEFORE THEIR COMPLETION....ALL DIFFERENT SIZES, ALL DIFFERENT COLORS!

HERE ARE THE NONI VINE PIECES AND VINE LEAVES BEFORE THEIR FINISHING AND FELTING!

HERE ARE THE SPIDER CHRYSANTHEMUM PIECES, I DECIDED TO MAKE THEM IN A DIFFERENT MANNER THAN WHAT THE NONI PATTERN CALLS FOR...(SOUND FAMILIAR? YOU KNOW ALL OF THE SHORTCUTS AND A BETTER WAY?!?)

A Farfalla Junkie

Yes, I have become a Farfalla Junkie...At a tiny little shop in Southport, North Carolina I came across this little pom pom like yarn that felts...I love to knit with it with one strand of regular wool yarn and it felts really, really cool....The pom poms stay puffy....

Here I mixed farfalla with a strand of yellow Cascade 220 to make a stripe in the middle of the red and green....

I mixed one strand of blue cascade 220 with blue farfalla to make a stripe in between the pinks!

I mixed orange farfalla with one strand of orange cascade 220 to make this striped purse...

Last but not least.....I made this entire purse using 3 skeins of farfalla and two skeins of cascade 220....I LOVE how this turned out. It is a miniature style basket purse with the handles knit directly into the purse.

Vacation Knitting FRENZY!!!

I just returned home from vacation at Holden Beach, NC with my family. I must say I went into a knitting frenzy this year...knitting much more than I ever had before...To date, this is what I pulled out of my bag of projects from vacation....
  • approx...120 NONI bobbles for purses
  • 12 NONI icord vines
  • 38 vine leaves
  • 90 NONI spider chrysanthemum flower parts
  • 8 rowan big wool bracelet purse bags
  • 4 felted purse handbags using wool with FARFALLA--my new favorite felting accent yarn--it has delicous little pompoms within the fiber!

Now is the fun part....finishing it all:)

There must have been something in the water there because my daughter was also knitting up a storm! She finished several projects. One of the projects is an adorable felted turtle...the flippers and head remain...I can't believe my 11 year old can knit with double pointed needles....Let's just say they aren't my favorite thing to use--I'm no fan of socks if you know what I mean:)

While we stopped 3 times at the only knitting store in south-eastern North Carolina, Angelwing in Southport we also discovered a new knitting shop!!!! It is just inside North Myrtle Beach--Knitting Up A Storm! It was wonderful to have a second shop to visit!

Oh well, back to the real world...gotta go pick up the stix! Heather
